Privacy Policy

Bixi ("Bixi", "we", "us") is a mobile app where two people raise a shared virtual pet together. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using Bixi you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account info — your email address and a password (stored securely, hashed, by our auth provider). We email you a one-time code to verify your address.
• Your Bixi & pairing data — your pet's name and progress (mood, streak, growth), and the link between you and the co-parent you pair with.
• Notes you write — short notes you leave for your co-parent. These are shown only to the two of you.
• Usage analytics — which screens you visit and actions you take in the app (e.g., feeding, watering), plus basic device/app info. We use this to understand how the app is used and improve it. This is tied to a random identifier and your account id — not to advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
• Purchases — when you buy coins or a membership, we record the transaction (the product, the number of coins, and a transaction id) to credit your shared balance and avoid duplicate credits. Apple processes the payment — we never receive your card number or full payment details.

We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, camera, or microphone.

How we use your information

• To create and secure your account and verify your email.
• To run the shared pet — sync progress between you and your co-parent, deliver notes, and keep streaks.
• To understand usage and improve the app.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with (service providers)

We use trusted providers who process data on our behalf:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and hosting of your account and app data.
• PostHog — product analytics (screen views and in-app events).
• Resend — sending your verification and account emails.
• RevenueCat — processes and validates in-app purchases and subscriptions (receives your account id and purchase details, not your payment card).
• Apple — handles payment and billing for all in-app purchases; your billing details stay with Apple.

The only personal content shared with another person is what you choose to share with your paired co-parent (your pet's shared progress and the notes you write to each other).

Data retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account and its data at any time in the app: You → Privacy & data → Delete account & data. This removes your account and associated Bixi data. You can also email us to request deletion.

Children

Bixi is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll remove it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can delete your data in-app as above, or contact us for any request.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect your data. No method is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll post the new version here and update the date above. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
